Dolby And QQ Music To Boost Atmos Streaming

News Image
Dolby Laboratories and QQ Music have announced that the next evolution of Dolby Atmos will soon arrive on the QQ Music mobile app, powered by Dolby's flagship AC-4 audio codec.

With the update, QQ Music will become the first major music streaming platform to support the latest Dolby AC-4 enhancements, aiming to bring premium, immersive music to more listeners at scale.

Dolby said the AC-4 foundation enables further gains in Atmos music fidelity and precision while better preserving artists' creative intent. The experience is designed to present recordings with greater clarity, dimension and emotional impact.

Improvements highlighted include studio-grade preservation of mix detail and a step forward for headphone listening, delivering a clearer, more natural sense of space. Vocals and instruments are intended to be more precisely placed within a stable, well-defined soundstage, revealing additional depth and detail.

"As streaming platforms become the primary medium for music consumption, the quality of the audio experience is more critical than ever," said Javier Foncillas, Vice President, Commercial Partnerships and Global Sales, Dolby Laboratories. "Our collaboration with QQ Music to introduce the latest advancements in Dolby AC-4 is a strategic move to address this evolution. Together, we are bringing a new level of audio fidelity and clarity to listeners, while providing artists and labels with a more powerful and reliable medium for their creative vision."

"TME has always been committed to embracing cutting-edge innovations to deliver an extraordinary experience to our users," said Alan zhou, Vice President of Technology, QQ Music & Kuwo Music, TME. "Our longstanding collaboration with Dolby has always been about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in music streaming. QQ Music is the first major music platform to integrate the latest advancements of Dolby AC-4, delivering greater fidelity, clarity and detail experience to users. We are excited to set a new benchmark in delivering streaming music experiences that are as authentic as they are immersive."
