Garden Studios Celebrates Fifth Anniversary
Garden Studios has marked its fifth anniversary with a two-day celebration in London, bringing together industry leaders and the wider creative community to highlight its role in advancing virtual production and emerging filmmaking technologies.
The independent film and virtual production facility hosted an invitation-only event on 18 March, welcoming key figures from the film, television, and technology sectors to reflect on its progress since launching in 2021. This was followed by a public open house on 19 March, სადაც visitors were given access to live demonstrations and hands-on experiences with the studio’s latest tools and workflows.
A central feature of the showcase was the latest innovation from long-time collaborator Mo-Sys Engineering: the CarRig system. The patent-pending technology is designed to enhance virtual car scene production by using computer-controlled agitation to simulate real driving conditions, complete with automated steering feedback for actors.
The system integrates with Unreal Engine to deliver real-time visualisation of vehicle movement, while allowing operators to adjust motion dynamics such as terrain and vibration through a user-friendly interface. Designed for flexibility, CarRig supports both traditional 2D driving plate workflows and fully immersive 3D virtual environments, and can be installed in under two hours.
Since its launch, Garden Studios has positioned itself at the forefront of virtual production in the UK, deploying a full suite of Mo-Sys technologies including VP Pro and StarTracker. The ongoing partnership has played a significant role in shaping the studio’s approach to real-time production and innovation.
Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys Engineering, commended Garden Studios' continued leadership in advancing new filmmaking methods: "When there are new technology chapters, it needs curious and at the same time responsible integrators of new workflows. Garden Studios is London's strongest example of such opposing strengths. Trust them."
"Garden Studios chose to launch five years ago with a VP stage, even before the rest of our campus was ready for production. We have always felt strongly that using various technologies as tools for efficiency and creative opportunity, all productions should consider. Today, we are proud to present our team's considerable experience with a VP stage worthy of our clients’ ambitions. We also confidently offer co-investment programs for feature films and put our experience into the creative team's ambitions," Thomas Hoegh, Founder and CEO of Garden Studios.
