Vislink Unveils DragonFly V 5G Dual-Modem

Vislink Technologies has introduced the DragonFly V 5G Dual-Modem, a new option within its miniature bonded video transmitter line designed for compact camera systems and portable workflows.

The latest configuration adds two concurrent cellular connections alongside Wi‑Fi, boosting transmission robustness and available throughput.

Built for small-form-factor deployments, the DragonFly V 5G delivers live video from compact camera systems including POV setups, UAVs, helmet-mounted cameras and other mobile platforms. It supports formats up to 1080p50/59 and integrates into modern broadcast workflows in a lightweight, durable unit.

By bonding multiple cellular networks at once, the dual‑modem variant increases bandwidth and network diversity to help maintain stable feeds in congested locations. This enables smaller cameras to be used more confidently in busy stadiums, live events and other challenging environments.

For broadcast production, the DragonFly V 5G Dual-Modem opens up camera positions that were previously hard to connect reliably, such as specialty rigs, mobile platforms and temporary placements. In mobile journalism and field reporting, it can turn compact or handheld cameras into portable live contribution units, with additional cellular capacity improving confidence where fixed infrastructure is limited.

Within Vislink's 5G live production ecosystem, DragonFly V 5G complements larger bonded transmitters such as LiveLink, providing a compact alternative for miniature cameras. Video from DragonFly units can be managed and distributed via Vislink's LinkMatrix management and control platform and received through its Playout Server for reliable broadcast integration.

Beyond broadcast, the DragonFly Dual-Modem also targets UAV-based video operations and other mission‑critical mobile scenarios where lightweight transmitters are needed to deliver live video from airborne or mobile assets into control centres.

"The DragonFly platform was developed to support compact camera systems where size, weight and power consumption are critical," said Michel Bais, Managing Director – 5G Solutions at Vislink. "With the introduction of the dual-modem model, customers can now benefit from increased connectivity resilience while maintaining the small form factor that makes DragonFly suitable for highly portable video applications."
