BBC SCOTLAND TO USE AVID UNITY MEDIANET

BBC SCOTLAND will be using Avid Unity MediaNet, Avid's shared storage and network system, and three Media Composer 9000 editing and finishing systems, in their on-location post-production unit at the annual 'T In The Park' music festival in Glasgow which runs from July 13 to the 15 2001.
BBC Scotland will provide full coverage of the two-day festival, producing two highlights programmes for transmission by BBC Scotland on the Saturday and Sunday evenings, and further programmes starting on Friday 13 July on Network BBC2, and BBC2 Scotland over the next few weeks.
This year's 'T In The Park' festival promises to be bigger than ever with bands including ‘Stereophonics’, ‘Placebo’, ‘Paul Weller’ and ‘Catatonia’.
BBC Scotland’s Technology Manager, Brendan Mallon, said: "Making the right
choice of equipment for post production on this type of fast turn-around project
is vital. The key to success rests with the ability to share online media between editors using a flexible and reliable network. We've been using a ten-seat Avid Unity MediaNet system connected to a mixture of Media Composer 1000, 9000 and Symphony systems and at BBC Scotland for over a year now and it has become the heart of our post-production environment."
BBC Scotland will be setting up a mobile Avid Unity MediaNet connected to three of their Media Composer 9000 systems at its production suites in the 'T In The Park' venue.
The Media Composer 9000 systems will be used to edit and finish the highlights programmes ready for transmission via two OB units and an uplink vehicle.
Avid Unity MediaNet is currently being used to provide workflow capabilities for Endemol's 'Big Brother' on Channel 4 and Planet 24's 'Survivor' series on the
ITV network. (CD)
