Taurus Technologies Upgrades Podcast Studio
Dallas-area professional AV integrator Taurus Technologies has revamped its in-house podcast studio with Brightline's AV/720 low-voltage lighting and control system, turning a routine replacement of fluorescent overheads into a more polished, customer-facing production environment.
Taurus initially deployed an AV/720 to manage 17 fixtures for Associa, the largest community management company in North America. After seeing the quality and operational benefits first-hand, the team chose to mirror the setup in its own studio.
"Our podcast, Taurus Tech Talk, is how we explain our work, train technicians and connect with our partners," said Corey Church, Vice President of Technical Operations, Taurus Technologies. "We weren't satisfied with the flat, inconsistent look of our old lighting. Moving to Brightline’s AV/720 was a key part of the studio upgrade. The new Brightline Lighting fixtures with the AV/720 control provides the clarity and polish our videos needed to represent the Taurus brand and our partners in the most engaging way possible."
The studio now uses eight Brightline Flex‑T in‑ceiling LED fixtures — four with flood lenses and four with spot lenses — all powered and controlled by the AV/720. Designed for seamless integration with professional AV systems over low‑voltage cabling, the AV/720 serves as an all‑in‑one controller for variable‑white lighting and supports straightforward, numbers‑based configuration while maintaining true variable‑white colour reproduction.
The upgrade was guided by a single goal: deliver professional, brand‑ready visuals. Brightline's solution improves colour rendition, evens out coverage and simplifies on‑set adjustment, helping hosts, guests and product demos look significantly better on camera. For Taurus, which repurposes long‑form episodes into social clips, training modules and vendor showcases, enhanced lighting lifts engagement and the overall return on content.
"Even the best cameras in the world can't create beautiful images if they're poorly lit," Church noted. "The AV/720 gave us a cost-effective solution that we can operate without needing a lighting tech on set for every podcast."
Commercially, the AV/720's low‑voltage architecture and streamlined installation reduce project time and main‑contractor costs. Factory‑programmed, pre‑labelled components further minimise commissioning, creating a compelling value proposition for integrators and organisations seeking broadcast‑quality results on modest budgets.
For Taurus, the outcome is consistent, repeatable visuals that strengthen customer relationships and give sales and marketing teams a stronger storytelling platform.
Taurus Tech Talk runs on the company's YouTube channel and feeds a steady stream of short‑form content across social and vendor platforms. With better lighting, Taurus plans to increase episode output and refine its editorial focus: more customer and technician training, deeper product discussions with vendor partners, and short, high‑quality clips to boost web and social discovery.
"Professional production helps us show rather than tell," Church added. "When we demonstrate products or workflows in the studio, the production value makes the technical details easier to understand and the brand more credible."
The project also reflects a broader market shift as organisations treat studio and video production as core, customer‑facing infrastructure rather than a back‑office nice‑to‑have. By choosing a low‑voltage AV/720 platform, Taurus has created a replicable model that delivers broadcast‑quality images, simplifies day‑to‑day operation and scales with evolving production needs.
"The AV/720's factory-programmed, pre-labeled approach reduces commissioning time and makes future expansions straightforward," said Tim Godby, Product Ambassador, Brightline Lighting. "The combination of the AV/720 and the Flex-T fixtures assures Taurus that each podcast will look as professional as a nightly newscast."
Looking ahead, Taurus views the studio as a business development asset: improved visuals support sales conversations, enhance training outcomes and deepen partner engagement. With an intuitive, low‑voltage backbone, the team can scale production, test new formats and deliver consistently polished content that demonstrates the value of advanced AV solutions.
Studio details: Brightline AV/720 low‑voltage control with 17 Flex‑T in‑ceiling LEDs; audio via four Shure SM7B microphones; video from three Aver TR315 12x 4Kp60 cameras and two Extron SMP 401 recording/streaming processors; monitoring/control through an ELO 22TS7M touchscreen with a Crestron DM‑DGE‑200‑C graphics engine and Crestron control processor. The studio, located at Taurus’s Flower Mound HQ, occupies an approximately 12’x12’ footprint.
