Mavis Camera 7.4 Adds Film Kit With LUT Workflows And Open Gate Capture

News Image
Mavis has rolled out version 7.4 of Mavis Camera, its professional iOS filming app, introducing Film Kit - an optional in‑app purchase that brings LUT workflows and Open Gate recording to users seeking a more cinematic look and extra flexibility on iPhone and iPad.

Film Kit centres on a refreshed colour pipeline. Creators can import custom .cube LUTs and choose either to preview a look non‑destructively in the viewfinder or to bake it into the final file. The same approach applies to HDMI inputs when using Atomos Ninja Phone, enabling Mavis Camera to preview or record LUT‑applied footage from DSLR or mirrorless cameras as well as the iPhone's internal camera.

To accelerate creative results, the Kit includes built‑in filter LUTs—Bleach Bypass, Bunny, Cinematic, IR, Monochrome and Vintage—delivering filmic character with minimal setup. When speed from capture to delivery is essential, these looks can be recorded and passed through into downstream workflows such as live streaming or NDI.

To further simplify colour management, Mavis Camera v7.4 debuts MLUTs (MavisLUTs)–a new format that bundles multiple traditional LUTs and related metadata into a single file, helping teams organise looks more easily across different colour spaces.

Film Kit also introduces Open Gate capture, giving creators the freedom to reframe and deliver multiple aspect ratios from a single take. Two Open Gate modes are available: one optimised for Apple Log workflows and one for Rec.709 that can capture above 4K resolution on supported devices. Support for Apple Log 2 has also been added, aligning with Apple’s pro capture direction.

Beyond capture and colour, the update adds free ATOMOSphere Camera to Cloud integration, offering progressive uploads into the Atomos ecosystem for review, sharing and collaboration.

Smaller enhancements include new white balance presets, improved shutter‑angle selection that snaps to common values (making standards like 180° easier to hit), refreshed translations (now fully supporting French, Spanish, Chinese and German, alongside English), and a wide range of bug fixes and performance improvements.
