Steinberg Announces Immediate Availability Of VST Live 3
Steinberg has released VST Live 3, available immediately and packed with new tools designed to elevate modern live performances.
The latest version introduces real-time video processing, enhanced DMX lighting control, a new Monitor Mixer, and a range of workflow improvements that bring audio, lighting, video, and streaming together in a single, intuitive environment.
With VST Live 3, artists and production teams can manage every aspect of a live show from one powerful platform. It represents a major step toward a truly all-in-one live production solution, designed to meet the demands of today’s in-person and online audiences.
Recognising the growing importance of video in live performance, VST Live 3 adds integrated real-time video handling. Multiple live or playback video sources can be processed simultaneously, limited only by system performance. The new Video Director and a dedicated video automation track allow precise programming of camera switches and playback cues, which are then executed automatically during the show.
Live video capabilities are further expanded through a direct connection to OBS, enabling seamless multi-camera live streaming. With all camera changes pre-programmed and synchronised to the performance, there’s no need for a footswitch or dedicated video operator. Performers can focus entirely on the show, while online audiences consistently receive the best possible viewing angles.
Steinberg recommends the free MixKey streaming software to further optimize streaming audio quality. Used between VST Live 3 and OBS, MixKey automatically manages audio levels.
To support performers on stage, VST Live 3 introduces a new Monitor Mixer that allows instant switching between monitor mixes. Whether using in-ear monitors or stage wedges, artists maintain full control over what they hear throughout the performance.
Lighting control has also been refined. Enhanced DMX functionality is now integrated directly into the mixer, with dedicated faders for intensity, mute, and solo. This brings lighting control into the same workspace as audio, simplifying programming and live operation.
VST Live 3 also adds individual lyric and chord tracks, allowing each performer to see only the information they need. Lead singers can view full lyrics, backing vocalists may see only choruses, and musicians can follow chord charts—helping everyone stay focused on their role.
Sound creation is expanded with the inclusion of Steinberg’s Flux and Trip VST synthesizers, along with the Groove Agent SE drum instrument, delivering enhanced sounds and rhythmic capabilities straight out of the box.
Additional improvements include shared modules that can be reused across an entire project, visible input channels within the mixer, improved in-app help, and expanded multi-language support—all aimed at making live production faster and more efficient.
Timo Wildenhain, Head of Pro Audio at Steinberg, commented: @VST Live continues to evolve so that any artist can deliver uncompromising audio and visual productions for today’s live and online audiences. VST Live 3 is a major step forward, offering meaningful improvements for both performers and audiences, while maintaining the intuitive ease of use that keeps the focus where it belongs—on the performance."
VST Live 3 is available now from the Steinberg Online Shop for €149 or $149.99 USD. Updates from previous versions are also available exclusively through the Steinberg Online Shop. Customers who activated VST Live 2 or earlier on or after November 12, 2025, are eligible for a free grace period update to VST Live 3.
