Gravity Media To Deliver Complete Broadcast Of NSW Schools Spectacular 'Remarkable!'

Gravity Media has confirmed it will oversee the full television broadcast production and technology for this year’s Schools Spectacular – REMARKABLE! in partnership with the New South Wales Department of Education's Arts Unit, with the national telecast scheduled on the Seven Network on Friday 19 December from 7pm AEDT.

Billed as the world's largest annual amateur variety show, the NSW Schools Spectacular is produced by the Department's Arts Unit and this year marks the 42nd edition of the event.

Gravity Media has produced the event's national TV coverage since 2016 and, working with the Arts Unit, returns as Event Partner for the 2025 staging of Schools Spectacular – REMARKABLE!.

For the 2025 broadcast, Gravity Media will employ advanced formats to deliver higher resolution, more accurate colours and smoother motion.

The production spans four live arena performances at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park, with the show broadcast nationwide on Seven.

More than 5,500 students from NSW public schools will take part across the two days, including 2,300 dancers, a combined choir of 2,500, an 80-piece symphony orchestra, a stage band, the D'Arts Ensemble for students with disability, the Aboriginal Dance Ensemble, a boys’ hip-hop ensemble and a circus arts ensemble.

The scope of work includes filming performer and teacher backstories, producing event and broadcast promos, comprehensive graphic design, and a cine unit travelling 3,000 kilometres across regional and rural NSW to capture footage for the show’s opener.

A team of 75 television production and technical staff will deploy a state-of-the-art high-definition outside broadcast truck and 15 broadcast and specialist cameras — including Steadicams, jib cranes, dollies and Spidercam — to deliver the complete television production for the NSW Department of Education and Seven.

Richard Spiewak, Executive Producer at NSW Department of Education – Arts Unit, said: "This year’s show is titled “Remarkable” and is a fitting tribute to the extraordinary achievements of students across NSW public schools. Now in its 42nd year, the Schools Spectacular continues to be a vibrant celebration of the arts, showcasing the incredible talent, dedication, and creativity nurtured in our public education system.

"The broadcast is an important component to the live production and allows us to reach right across Australia to highlight our remarkable students."
