DirectOut Debuts Native Companion Plugin

Audio solutions manufacturer DirectOut has released a native plugin for Bitfocus’ Companion platform, marking a new step in the company’s ongoing push for deeper third-party integration.

The launch is the result of a joint effort between DirectOut, German distributor sphereo, and Companion module developer Dorian Meid.

The plugin, now available under the MIT open-source license, can be downloaded via Bitfocus’ Companion repository on GitHub. It is compatible with Companion version 4.0.0 and later.
Designed to streamline control over DirectOut’s PRODIGY and MAVEN Series devices, the plugin enables automatic device detection and works seamlessly with Stream Deck hardware. Users can program presets, parameters, and complex command sequences through Companion’s flexible control surface software, which is widely used across live production and broadcast environments.

Companion allows operators to manage multiple devices from a single interface—whether using a physical controller or the platform’s web-based emulator. Buttons can be customized extensively, and users can stack commands to simplify intricate workflows.

DirectOut’s new plugin provides access to most PRODIGY and MAVEN functions, including routing, configuration, and detailed status reporting such as EARS monitoring. A built-in learn button lets users capture parameters directly from the device, eliminating the need to understand the underlying control protocol. An Action Recorder feature also enables quick capture and replay of complex operational sequences.

Users can tailor button layouts, store multiple pages, and take advantage of a preset library included within the module. According to DirectOut, these capabilities aim to provide a more intuitive and efficient control experience for engineers working in demanding production scenarios.
