High Point launch in-house Production Division

London-based independent distribution company High Point Films & Television has announced the launch of an in-house Production Division.
Led by award-winning producer Carl Simons, previously Head of Production & Development for UK production companies Mentorn Films, NVC Arts and Urban Legends, Simons’ award winning productions include ‘Breaking The Silence’ (Golden Prague Award) and ‘Dancing For Dollars’ (Emmy Award).
At High Point, Simons will be sourcing co-productions for quality drama series and films for television. High Point’s Head of Development, Piers Nightingale, will continue to add to High Point’s ever-expanding slate of feature films.
High Point’s Managing Director, Carey Fitzgerald, said: “After fifteen years of effectively executive producing the films and series we are selling internationally, it was a natural progression to branch into co-production. Carl’s impressive experience in programme production brings exactly the expertise needed to launch an exciting, commercial and innovative production division.”
Simons added: “High Point’s reputation as distributors of quality films and drama and clear remit of what works internationally are just a couple of its obvious strengths. What has really attracted me to them is their positive go-getting approach. As a producer I know what constitutes a good working relationship with a sales agent. High Point is determinedly lean and uncluttered which means that it is able to really focus on individual projects and is highly targeted and pro-active in the areas of programme finance and sales. I’m very excited about this new venture.”
Carl Simons’ first Festival under the High Point banner will be the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, where he will be seeking out producers who are looking to form constructive and long-standing working relationships.
