IFB launches free test screening programme

The Irish Film Board has launched a free test screening programme whereby producers and distributors can avail of using test audiences to assist in the completion and marketing of their films.
This free service is now available to co-financed IFB feature films and forms part of IFB's policy of ensuring that Irish features films connect with Irish and international audiences.
Test screenings have become an increasingly popular tool in estimating an audience’s reaction to a film. The aim of the test screening is to allow producers and distributors to obtain unbiased feedback from their target audience, generating information that can help to exploit the full sales potential of a project and to develop a successful marketing and distribution strategy. Such screenings provide an opportunity to show almost complete or finished feature films to an independent audience with no previous knowledge of the film to gauge which parts of the film work best and which audiences are likely to want to see the film.
“This is one of several programs BSE/IFB shall be initiating and/or strengthening to further our support for the effective distribution of Irish films at home and abroad,” said IFB CEO Mark Woods. “As the national screen agency, BSE/IFB is determined to make every effort to give Irish films the best shot at being seen by as many people as possible.”
