TK FILMS PROVIDE DVD AUTHORING SOLUTIONS

TK FILMS in Bristol are the latest company to provide DVD Authoring solutions.
The company have invested in three DVD workstations including the top end Spruce Maestro and Virtuoso products coupled with a powerful MPX 3000 MPEG 1 & 2 encoding system.
The DVD suites compliment the company’s existing facilities to make TK Films one of the most versatile authoring facilities in the UK.
Managing Director at TK Films, Laurie Jones, said: “We looked at the way the industry is developing and realised we had the perfect infrastructure to make DVD work. We have made the investment in telecine/film technology, standards conversion and digital editing and together with the wide range of video formats and enhancement tools we offer, we can handle most media formats. Our team of DVD authors are highly experienced and familiar with the new DVD spec which has now produced a degree of standardisation for us all to work to and has made the business of DVD production less of the hit or miss situation that previously existed. Also our clients are becoming very aware of the many new opportunities that DVD presents.”
The DVD team is headed by Jon Pembro who has spent more than a year researching the new operation.
Pembro said: “We recognised the fact that DVD is about to become the biggest thing for post production in recent years and it has given us the opportunity to increase our client base and allow us to develop our business away from broadcast work which is now becoming in short supply for post production companies like ours. It has also enabled us to look at new creative solutions in business and corporate areas which are both exciting and challenging. We needed to get the authoring kit right and had tried out a variety of systems on both MAC and NT platforms, we decided the Spruce Maestro provided us with the most user friendly software which enables us to be that little bit faster.”
TK Films have already established a wide client base for the new facility which includes Prism Leisure's catalogue of Feature Films and Music Video titles. The company offers a wide range of services which include packaging and design solutions and broadband streaming facilities.
