BBC Broadcast Centre Receives Gold Award

News Image
The BBC's newest and most advanced broadcast centre at Cardiff's Central Square has received a coveted gold award for the quality of its behind-the-scenes tours.

BBC Cymru Wales Tours, launched in July by His Majesty, King Charles III - then Prince of Wales - is an opportunity for individuals, groups, schools and colleges to visit the BBC Cymru Wales television and radio studios, packed with cutting-edge technology - including augmented reality, virtual reality and robotic cameras.

Since opening its doors, thousands of people across Wales and the world have experienced the future of broadcasting, as part of the 90-minute guided tours. As a live and working broadcast centre, no two tours are the same, and they include a sneak peek at TV galleries and other broadcast facilities.

The Visit Wales Gold award is awarded to attractions that achieve excellence for their facilities and customer services.

Rhuanedd Richards, Director of BBC Cymru Wales said: "We're delighted to receive the Visit Wales Gold award. As we celebrate our centenary, it’s a real privilege to welcome audiences into the heart of our studios in Central Square, which is one of the most open, accessible, technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable broadcasting centres in the world. The feedback we’ve received from people, right across Wales,  who've already joined us on a tour, has been terrific. And as well as showcasing our fantastic content from Wales, our teams are inspiring the next generation of broadcasters."
