WALMSLEY QUITS CARLTON COMMUNICATIONS

CARLTON Communications have announced the resignation of Nigel Walmsley as an Executive Director of the Group with effect from December 31, 2001.
Walmsley will complete his term as Chairman of GMTV at the end of 2001 following which he will act as a non-executive adviser to Carlton on industry and regulatory developments.
Walmsley joined Carlton in 1991 from Capital Radio where he had been Chief Executive. He led Carlton's successful bid for the London weekday ITV licence and played a central role in Carlton's development as a major UK broadcaster over the past ten years, including its acquisition of other ITV licences and the development of digital television.
He has decided to expand his range of business and cultural interests at this stage in his career. He is a non-executive director of Energis, De Vere Group, The South Bank Board and The Ambassador Theatre Group, where he will continue as Carlton's representative.
Michael Green, Carlton's Chairman, said: "Nigel's contribution to Carlton over the past ten years has been huge and I am personally very grateful for the energy, enthusiasm and total integrity with which he approached his work for Carlton.
