WorldCast Systems Receives Radio World Best Of Show Award At IBC

WorldCast Systems is honored to have received the Radio World Best of Show Award at IBC for its new Virtual APT IP Codec.

The Best of Show award is judged by a panel of industry experts on the criteria of innovation, feature-set, and performance in serving the industry.

"It is a privilege to receive this recognition from Radio World, and kudos to our team who worked hard to develop and launch this virtualized version of our famous codec. We are proud to enable solutions broadcasters can rely on; We are witnessing a transition to an all-IP, or more software-based broadcast chain – however broadcasters must adapt to this growing complexity of networks, while working with their existing resources. With the Virtual APT IP Codec, we meet their needs for a virtualized solution that brings both scalability and cost-efficiency," said Gregory Mercier, Director of Product Marketing.

With this innovation, WorldCast takes a proven hardware solution for audio/MPXoIP program transport, the APT IP Codec, and delivers it as software. Over 20 000 APT codecs are deployed worldwide and the range is continuously enhanced to meet the needs of broadcasters. This software version reflects the high APT-standards for reliability, latency, scalability, and feature-density.

The Virtual APT IP Codec offers reliable 24/7 operation and is fully compliant with a High Availability (HA) architecture. Using AES67, it can be integrated into virtualized studios and, as a server-based solution, removes the need for hardware. Broadcasters can easily centralize and transport a large volume of program signals and have the flexibility to re-adjust their network size as needed. It also allows high-density encoding/decoding from a single server, without compromise on APT quality standards.

The Virtual APT IP Codec supports APT technologies such as APTmpX, the award-winning algorithm for highest quality MPX compression (bandwidth requirement <300, <400, <600 or <900kbps), and SureStream, an established technology for robust, low cost, and low latency transport over IP. It can also be combined with Kybio for end-to-end monitoring, control, and automation.
