Sky Receives 10 Nominations For 2022 RTS Programme Awards

Sky has received 10 nominations for the 2022 Royal Television Society Programme Awards.

The nominations announced are:
• Scripted Comedy Bloods. BAFTA-nominated Samson Kayo and Golden Globe-nominated Jane Horrocks star the Sky Original comedy series as paramedic partners in the South London ambulance service. When tough-acting loner Maleek is paired with over-friendly divorcee Wendy, their partnership looks dead on arrival. But pretty soon they’re giving each other life support. The new series of Bloods starts on 16th March on Sky Comedy.

• Comedy Performance – Male Samson Kayo for Bloods. Starring the BAFTA-nominated co-creator of the show, Samson Kayo who plays Maleek, a tough-acting loner who’s paired with over-friendly divorcee Wendy as they venture through the life-saving world of a south London emergency service.

• Comedy Performance – Male Nick Mohammed for Intelligence. Created and written by Nick Mohammed, Intelligence is a workplace comedy set in the UK’s GCHQ — a kind of weedier, geekier version of MI5, where they tackle international and domestic Cyber Crime from a desktop.

• Documentary Series Liverpool Narcos. Liverpool Narcos reveals the real-life stories behind how Liverpool became the epicentre of drugs in Britain in the 1980s. With unprecedented access to some of the biggest players, this is the story of how drugs went mainstream and dealing became a multi-billion pound business.

• RTS Network of the Year Sky Arts. Nominated for a second year running, Sky Arts threw open its doors to become free to air at a time when the creative industries were under threat, redoubling its mission to increase access to the arts and support artists in making digital versions of their work.

• Single DocumentaryThe Return: Life After Isis. The Sky Original documentary provides exclusive access to a group of Western women who devoted their young lives to ISIS, including British recruit Shamima Begum, who fled the country with two school friends when she was just 15, and Hoda Muthana from USA who allegedly incited her followers on Twitter to support the Islamic State.

• Single Drama Death of England: Face to Face. An original film for TV by Deputy Artistic Director of the National Theatre Clint Dyer and playwright Roy Williams, starring Neil Maskell, Giles Terera, and Phil Daniels.

• Single Drama Romeo & Juliet. Shot in the National Theatre over three weeks during lockdown, this retelling of the timeless love story stars Josh O’Connor (The Crown) and Jessie Buckley (Chernobyl) in the title roles, supported by Tamsin Greig, Adrian Lester, Deborah Findlay and Lucian Msamati.

• Sport The Hundred. The Hundred is a fresh, new and exciting way to view cricket. The 100 ball competition launched on Sky Sports in 2021 and has since won the hearts and minds of people across the country as the dynamic production and coverage brought cricket to new audiences like never before.

• Sports Presenter, Commentator or Pundit Gary Neville for Sky Sports Premier League. Football expert and Manchester United legend Gary Neville is a familiar face on Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage. Gary and the team bring the highs and lows of football to life for viewers and fans across the country on a weekly basis with live action and reactions throughout the season.

The RTS Programme Awards will be hosted by Nish Kumar at Grosvenor House on Tuesday 29 March.
