Nou Broadcast Equips Radio Desvern Main Studio With AEQ Forum IP Split

Sant Just Desvern is a municipality of 18,000 inhabitants, on the Collserola mountain range, in the metropolitan area of Barcelona (Spain).

Radio Desvern is a service created by the City Council to broadcast the reality of the municipality through cultural and informative programmes.

The radio station opens the 2021-22 season with new programmes, the return of collaborators to the studios in person and a modernisation of the technical equipment in the central studio, as the station took advantage of the pandemic to renew itself technically.

The installation, carried out by the integrator Nou Broadcast Service, is based on the AEQ Forum IP Split modular digital console, in its 12-fader version, with a 32-channel AoIP Dante-AES67 interconnection module.

AEQ FORUM IP is an audio console with the latest technology and the most innovative features, allowing up to max 24fader size. 100% Digital, 100% IP, it stands out for its simple operation, configuration and integration. The SPLIT version has a completely modular surface, up to a maximum of six modules of four faders each and a control module. Its external engine is also modular with a control capacity of up to 100 audio inputs and outputs. It can incorporate up to two AoIP Dante-AES67 input and output boards with 32 inputs and outputs each. Radio Desvern has installed four speaker booths, so it has been complemented with a SAMSON amplifier / headphone distributor.

It incorporates the option of external screen control support with touch ForumScreen, which greatly supports the functionality of the console, allowing touch screen control and convenient display of all the main parameters (VU meters, clock and timer, ON AIR status and status of telephones) on an external screen.

In addition, the VirtualForum remote control application has been installed, as backup, but with the hope that it will no longer be necessary to work from home. Virtual IP Forum, that represents the control surface of the console and all its physical controls as well as its advanced functionalities. This software allows remote management (no need to work with the surface in front of it) in parallel to the surface.

Besides the console, Nou has installed all the usual equipment for a radio studio: automation system, synchronised timing system, Sennheiser MD 441 microphones with hypercardioid directivity, professional AKG headphones, control and studio monitors, etc.

The auxiliary audio sources include a vinyl turntable and the Pioneer DJ MEP-7000 multi-support recorder/player with dual DVD and CD ports, mixing and disc jockeying tools.

For telephony, an AEQ Venus 3 Dual audiocodec has been installed, with direct audio access to the Dante network. Calls are routed to an IP telephony provider and are generated or answered either from an IP phone or from the Phoenix control application.
