ITC PUBLISH FURTHER CONSULTATION PAPER

AS a result of the range and quality of industry views raised following the first consultation on cross promotion, issued in May 2001, the ITC have taken the step of publishing a further consultation paper.
The second consultation paper includes a revised set of proposed rules. Overall the revisions to the issues addressed in the first consultation are not substantial. However, where necessary, further clarification of the points from the first consultation which caused uncertainty has been offered.
As was the aim of the initial consultation, the overall aim is to achieve a balance between the real benefits for viewers which cross-promotion can bring, and the disbenefits that arise if cross-promotions are excessive, affect editorial integrity or threaten fair and effective competition. (CD)
