BSKYB'S JOINT VENTURE WITH LADBROKES IS REFERRED
BRITISH Sky Broadcasting's joint venture with Ladbrokes, the betting and gaming division of Hilton Group, has been referred by the Secretary of State to the Competition Commission.
The 50:50 joint venture between BSkyB and Ladbrokes will involve the development and operation of a multi-platform fixed-odds and pools betting service available on the internet, by telephone and via Sky's channels on the digital satellite platform.
A Sky spokesman said: "The at-home betting market is highly competitive and we believe we can demonstrate to the Competition Commission that the joint venture with Ladbrokes is fully consistent with the principles of fair competition". (CD)
