Vector 3 Unveils Drillarium

News Image
Vector 3, the company from Barcelona that for 30 years has heralded innovation in the rather conservative world of playout, unveiled Drillarium, the new paradigm for multichannel automation at IBC 2018.

Drillarium is a front end designed to manage and control many channels at the same time from a single monitor. Moreover, these channels can be emitted from locations very distant from where the operator is and can be of very different natures such as virtual, at the cloud or conventional. The idea is to maximise the power of the engineer in charge that will be able to supervise as many channels as needs to without limitations of number or location. No need to say how well this product fits with the new landscape of playout were channels are produced in big numbers, the material to be aired comes from everywhere and the audience is global.

Operators can check countdowns and six different status parameters per channel, some of them about workflow and others about technical issues. From there, it is possible to increase the level of detail to check over any aspect of each channel to any level of detail. At any time, operator can open windows with the traditional display of running playlists with its programme lines, countdowns, etc.

"Our customers where asking for Drillarium because more and more a single operator is in charge of dozens of channels and more and more the playout of some of them is done in another facility or even in another continent" says Roman Ceano, general manager of the company.
"Decades ago, we were the first to promote playout using COTS only and now this the logical step. IT technology is setting the path to broadcast, and this path is massive and global. The challenge now is to playout hundred channels with the quality of service that our industry had when there were one channel per facility."
