FILM HOUSE LAUNCH AVID AUTHORISED EDUCATION CENTRE

Film House, the recently-opened film centre based in Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland, launched as an Avid Authorised Education Centre on November 29, 2001.
Film House is part of the Institute of Art, Design and Technology which is located in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.
The Institute has made a substantial investment in the latest non-linear editing technology. The equipment was provided by leading Irish Avid resellers Tyrell Content Creation Tools, which also designed, engineered and commissioned the installation and are currently supplying technical support for the facility.
The equipment includes two Media Composer offlines, a Media Composer 1000, two Xpress DV systems and two Digidesign Pro Tools systems. In order to give students a more realistic working experience, the training centre has been set up as a proper production environment, with a separate central apparatus room (CAR) housing all storage racks, peripheral equipment and cabling.
The new centre will offer a range of short and long courses, including the introductory Avid 101 course and point release updates for Media Composer, from 2002. Courses are open to both students and industry professionals. (CD)
