Nagra unveil linear recorder developments

Swiss audio manufacturer Nagra-Kudelski have announced the launch of their new Ares-PII handheld, Ares-BB desktop/over-shoulder and rackmountable Nagra V-PP linear PCM digital recorders.
The Ares-PII and Ares-BB are both derived from the popular ENG and Broadcast orientated Ares-P solid state, handheld recorder, providing switchable linear 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz stereo/16-bit PCM capability in two robust, professional and lightweight, aluminium packages. The Ares-PII and Ares-BB both use the ubiquitous FAT16 .WAV file system, enabling files to be transferred to, and played in, almost all Windows and Mac O/S PCs without additional software.
The units record onto compact flash card, PCMCIA ATA card or IBM microdrive and include a built in loudspeaker, separate line and headphone outputs, switchable 48 V phantom power, a new low cut filter and a redesigned intelligent battery charger control. Audio-triggered auto record is also provided. Software options are available that emulate RCX220/virtual PCX/USB and Ares-P/MPEG operation. The lightweight (900g) NAGRA Ares-BB is equipped with a pivoting keyboard for desktop operation and an expanded battery compartment, accepting 6 x AA cells or a Lithium Ion battery pack.
The Nagra V-PP, a 2 u is a rackmountable version of the advanced Nagra V 24-bit, 2-channel, removable hard-disk recorder. The Nagra V-PP has been developed for use in mobile control rooms and static installations and comes equipped with an internal 80 GB drive, as well as accepting standard, removable 2.5” IDE drives. The Nagra V-PP can be used in conjunction with the powerful Windows based NV-COM software package, enabling remote transport control and metering, on-screen editing of control parameters, file naming, and additional display functionality.
