Scopus complete Latvian digital cable TV trial

Scopus Network Technologies, a leading supplier of digital compression technology to the broadcasting industry, have successfully completed a trial for the transmission of digital cable television in Latvia.
Scopus worked with their Latvian partner, Tilts Integration, on this project.
This digital Cable TV analysis, whose results met and exceeded Latvian requirements, was conducted with Latvia’s Telia MultiCom, which has more than 75,000 local subscribers. The trial used Scopus’ platforms for off-air reception of digital and analogue channels and the adding of local encoded content and re-transmission of all signals at 8MHz frequency. The parameters tested included video quality and stereo sound, among others. Reception was through various manufacturers’ set-top boxes (STBs).
Telia MultiCom director of marketing, Caspar Spunde, said: “This successful testing shows that we no longer have any obstacles preventing the introduction of the digital television. Latvia is now prepared for the digital age and we look forward to being there first.”
