MTVS choose Omneon server system

Tel Aviv-based MTVS, one of Israel's leading broadcasters, have deployed a new Omneon Spectrum media server system in their state-of-the-art broadcast transmission centre for playout of Music 24, Israel's first music channel and fourth commercial channel.
"In selecting a new server and playout system for our new commercial channel, Music 24, we sought a system that would be capable of providing up-to-date features and help to provide a 'fresh' on-screen look for our programming," said MTVS Director of Engineering Eran Katz. "Most of the materials we use are video clips, and the Omneon Spectrum server system is an advanced, flexible, and cost-effective solution that allows us to manage our large clip database with a very high degree of automation."
MTVS' Omneon server system is composed of two Omneon Mediaservers, six DV/MPEG Mediaports, two Mediastore storage chassis (each with nine 146 GB drives) and one networked server manager.
The system, which is able to acquire, store, manage, edit, and play-to-air up to 34 playout channels, also operates as the interface to a Sony Petasite archiving system.
