Swiss Effects go eQ and QColor

Switzerland-based Swiss Effects have installed a Quantel eQ HD editing system, equipped with the new QColor in-context grading option.
With an international customer list and many years’ experience in the video-to-film and digital film editing/grading/effects business, Swiss Effects pride themselves on the pristine quality of their results. “Until now we have been using our own specially developed HD solution which has produced high quality output,” said Ruedi Schick, Swiss Effects owner. “But when I saw the eQ, I was immediately deeply impressed by its fantastic quality, its flying speed at HD and especially its openness – this would provide a real step forward for us.
“The clincher was its Resolution Co-existence, which opens up new opportunities for us in emerging mixed format work, including 24P HD mastering, restoration and DVD pre-production,” Schick continues. “We can mix material of any resolution in the same edit without the need to partition disks, restart the system or pre-convert media to the target resolution – and so produce first generation quality results whatever the output required. None of Quantel’s competitors can do this, and for me and my team, this was the most significant purchase criterion.”
