Jonathan Creek Returns For New Special

BBC One has announced that hit crime drama Jonathan Creek is to return for a 90-minute special.

The episode, entitled Daemons' Roost, sees Alan Davies return as Jonathan Creek. He will be joined by Sarah Alexander as his wife Polly. Also scheduled to appear in the episode are Warwick Davis, Emun Elliot, Ken Bones, Rosalind March, Jason Barnett, and Jo Martin.

According to legend, a 19th Century sorcerer named Jacob Surtees would summon the powers of Hell to terrorise and subjugate his victims at his home, Daemons' Roost.

150 years after his death, the house is occupied by another, equally macabre, figure: veteran horror film director Nathan Clore. With his health now failing, he has summoned his stepdaughter Alison home to share the chilling truth of what happened to her family there. However, just days before her arrival, Clore suffers a debilitating stroke, rendering him paralysed and unable to communicate the truth that she has come to learn.

After helping Alison's husband in the past, Jonathan Creek is asked to help again, but as the story unfolds the gruesome rituals that were once enacted in the dungeon of Daemons' Roost are revived with horrifying consequences.

Jonathan Creek is a BBC Studios production written by David Renwick directed by Sandy Johnson (Cradle To Grave, Benidorm), and produced by Rosemary McGowan. The Executive Producers are Steven Canny and David Renwick. The special was commissioned by Shane Allen.
