New Carlton 021 OB truck fitted with Pro-Bel routers
Birmingham based Carlton 021 have installed Pro-Bel Eclipse and Freeway routing systems in their brand new OB truck – Digital Outside Broadcast Unit 2.
One of the largest and most comprehensively equipped trucks currently on the road, it was first used for ITV Champions League Football and will soon be in operation at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo.
OB unit 2 offers 24 cameras and was designed by Carlton 021's Chief Engineer John Fisher. The Pro-Bel equipment - a 128x256 Eclipse SDI router, a 64x64 Freeway audio router and a dual redundant Aurora control system with 27 control panels - is housed in the main engineering area.
Space is at a premium in OB trucks. With Eclipse being one of the most compact, feature intensive routers on the market, and Freeway having built-in signal conversion capabilities, Carlton 021 have increased the facilities for covering any large scale event and the capacity to integrate all areas of production and transmission.
