Sony showcase AnyCast World at Video Forum

Sony will showcase the latest developments in HD and SD production equipment at Video Forum 2003.
The evolution of an 'anycast' environment where passive standard definition broadcast operations are replaced by a business model centred on multi-platform access content provision continues to impact of Sony’s technological landscape.
At Video Forum on stand 310, Sony Business Europe (UK) will demonstrate the latest developments in its strategy to provide the tools which create and distribute high quality content, "anywhere, anytime, anyhow".
Throughout the three-days of Video Forum, Sony will stage a series of free workshop sessions covering such topics as High Definition for TV production, delivering the AnyCast solution and the integration of traditional Audio Video and IT platforms. AnyCast production tools Sony will exhibit a range of products which demonstrate its key strategies of High Definition for TV production, the integration of video over IT networks and the delivery of the AnyCast world via a DVCAM mobile solution.
Products demonstrations on show will include:
  • Anycast World – Sony’s concept of high quality content access anywhere, anytime, anyhow has moved away from the theoretical and in to the practical with the launch of a range of mobile products. At VideoForum 2003, the company will showcase a mobile creation, edit and delivery system comprising the DSR-PDX10P camcorder, DVCAM DSR-11P VTR and Oplayo software, which enables video viewing on the move via PDA and even mobile telephone.
  • A quality comparison of material shot in HDCAM and down-converted to Standard Definition, with identical scenes shot on a Digital Betacam camcorder will be displayed on two 24-inch broadcast quality monitors.
  • The MPEG IMX e-VTR – a plug-in network card that provides an IP address and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to a standard MPEG IMX VTR. It allows MXF files carrying 50Mb/s MPEG-2 data to be sent via IT networks – not just from MPEG IMX cassettes, but also when replaying Betacam, Betacam SP, Betacam SX and Digital Betacam tapes.
  • DVCAM edit – an illustration of the editing versatility of Sony’s DVCAM format, featuring an edit suite comprising a DSR-2000P conventional VTR and the first DVCAM hard disc recorder, the DSR-DR1000P.
  • The Purple Field Package edit system which can be used in the field or the home office, comprising VAIO laptop PC, J3 Betacam SX office viewer and DVCAM format DSR-DU1 dockable hard disk recorder.

Completing the Sony AnyCast showcase will be a range of HD and SD cameras, including the HDCAM format HDW-750P developed specifically for the needs of the European TV production market, the 50Mbps MPEG-2 compliant MVS-900P (MPEG IMX format, the high-end DVCAM format DSR-570WSP widescreen switchable studio camera and the new DVCAM DSR-PDX10P compact professional palmcorder.
