DAC To Demo At CABSAT 2015

News Image
Disk Archive Corporation Ltd (DAC) is to announce the integration with FileCatalyst at this year's CABSAT 2015. It will be one of a few announcements made at the show by DAC.

Presented at the 2015 CABSAT Show:

Support for 8TB Archive Disk Drives
At CABSAT 2015, DAC will announce support for a new generation of Archive Specific 8TB disk drives, which are set to transform the economics of Deep Archive storage on the ALTO Offline platform. The new Disk Drive technology is optimized for long retention times and low throughput characteristically required for Deep Archives and Preservation. With up to 4 Petabytes per rack cabinet, the footprint is significantly smaller than other Archive solutions and being disk-based, the environmental specifications are more relaxed than tape-based solutions, bringing direct and indirect cost savings to the ALTO system, which already features the industry's lowest total lifetime cost of ownership.

Hybrid Cloud Storage Solution
DAC will present a new storage concept, which overturns the traditional economic barriers that have made Cloud Storage unaffordable for long form broadcast content in native resolution. Combining the strengths of a high-yield on-premise appliance, backed by a Copy of Last Resort in the Cloud, the system offers a multi-petabyte class solution with ultra-low TCO for Broadcasters and Media Companies who need secure and affordable storage for tapeless operations.

Support for FileCatalyst
At CABSAT 2015, DAC will announce the integration with FileCatalyst, an Emmy Award-winning accelerated file transfer solution. As an embedded option for ALTO, FileCatalyst enables files of any size or format to be sent at speeds of up to 10 Gbps across global networks. Being immune to packet loss and latency, FileCatalyst solutions achieve transfer speeds hundreds of times faster than FTP, while ensuring the reliable and secure delivery of files with sizes into the terabytes, complementing ALTO's ability to Replicate Archive Volumes across wide area networks for Distributed Archives and Content Delivery solutions.

Marina Eiserle, Business Development Director, Disk Archive Corporation, said: "With the growing need to store more content in a more accessible way, Broadcasters and Media companies are looking for higher density and lower cost agile storage solutions. Enterprises have already largely moved their transactional data from tape archives to cloud-based disk storage, but the special requirements for Media storage defeat the economics of typical cloud solutions.

"At CABSAT we will present new technologies and solutions to increase storage density, reduce cost and harness the power of the cloud in a smarter way to deliver tangible business benefits and superior performance."

DAC will be at CABSAT 2015, Booth D3-33.
