US voice-over market endorses APT’s WorldNet Tokyo codec

US voice-over artists and post production companies are among those placing orders for the new WorldNet Tokyo ISDN audio codec, released last year by Belfast-based audio data compression specialist, APT (Audio Processing Technology).
Northern American APT dealer, Digifon, notched up the first WorldNet Tokyo sale in April - to Wolff Bros Post, a full service post-production facility based in Atlanta. It immediately used its codec to solve compatibility problems with the growing number of home studios being used for voice-over sessions.
Terry Simpson, audio editor and engineer at Wolff Bros, said: “We use the APT WorldNet Tokyo to link our studio to home voice-over sessions throughout the country. There is a growing trend for voice-over talents to record sessions at home, usually using inexpensive codecs. Before the purchase of the APT codec we were forced to use an outside company as a bridge to link our DD2 codec with these home studios, which was both time consuming and expensive. The APT WorldNet Tokyo is ideal for connecting us to any voice-over talent in the world. It is a terrific product!”
Digifon has also supplied an APT WorldNet Tokyo to the Dallas Audio Post Group, a company that specialises in audio postproduction for TV, radio, film and multimedia.
Roy Machado, of Dallas Audio Post, said: “We have been in business for 10 years servicing clients all over the United States and abroad. We like our WorldNet Tokyo very much and have used it on both MPEG II and apt-X sessions. It has worked well in all situations, to the extent that we no longer need to use an audio bridge service since the Tokyo is able to connect with just about every codec on the market. That saves us money, and more importantly, time.”
