Riedel moves into 2015 on the strength of diverse product deployments in high-profile applications around the world, as well as a series of product releases that signal a new direction for the company.

Among the most notable deployments of Riedel solutions was at the winter games in Sochi. The MediorNet real-time media transport system was used not only for the broadcast aspect of the games, but also for ceremonies, sports presentations, timekeeping, and other critical elements.

For match-day programming and highlights creation for the Fox Sports Eredivisie football pay-TV channels, Endemol and Fox Sports Eredivisie have used MediorNet with a Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom system to establish a fully redundant communications, A/V, and data link connecting the new Endemol studio complex in Amsterdam with the master control room and playout facility, located in Hilversum.

In the house of worship market, Gateway Church extended its use of MediorNet to link five worship sites in Texas and Missouri via fiber, and the church is in the midst of expanding its Artist intercom system to outfit and connect all six of its sites with the communications system. Also based in Texas, Omega Broadcast Group installed a Riedel Acrobat digital wireless intercom system for one of America's fastest growing churches, Celebration Church, in a digital upgrade that enhances communications within and across worship sites.

In Macao, an Artist system facilitates communications throughout 'The House of Dancing Water', a breathtaking water show created by the Franco Dragone Entertainment Group for the City of Dreams. The performers – actors, dancers, divers, acrobats, and motocross stunt riders – and production team use Artist for all communications, even in the pool via underwater speakers and in-mask communications systems and buddy phones.

An extensive Artist system and MediorNet network supported global race-day communications for the Red Bull Wings for Life World Run, as well as production of a television program and a live streaming broadcast with updates from 32 participating countries. For the Red Bull Air Race World Championships, Riedel engineers built the state-of-the-art infrastructure that not only supported wired and wireless communications among the more than 300 people, from pilots to security to referees, but also facilitated distribution of video and audio for production of both the live show and the international broadcast and Web stream.

Riedel supplied all radio communications equipment and services for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, designing and providing a radio communications solution – including more than 6,000 radios – for use across Glasgow and at the 14 venues hosting 17 different sporting competitions.

DB Video, host broadcaster of the 2014 European Parliament Elections in Brussels, used a large-scale Riedel system to interconnect seven different broadcast sets with up to 10 cameras each, which were used for press conferences, interviews, and live commentary. An additional 40 SNG and over 60 live stand-up positions were set up throughout the parliament buildings to complement these sets. Riedel systems also were used to support coverage of the Scottish Referendum broadcast by BBC Scotland.

Germany's TV Skyline has integrated the Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom system into OB 7, the company's flagship HD mobile production unit. The Artist system makes it easy for TV Skyline to configure and manage all the communications necessary for production of international events of any size.

At the 2014 NAB show, Riedel showcased the MediorNet 2.0 release, with rich updates including full video router functionality, seamless interoperability with Studer consoles, EMBER+ implementation, and extended integration of the ProBel protocol. The company introduced a key panel app that allows users of compatible iOS, OS X®, and Android devices to turn their smartphones and tablets into virtual panels for any Artist system.

The new 2-RU large-scale MediorNet MetroN core router was launched, enabling Riedel's acclaimed networked approach to signal distribution and routing with a massive 640 GB real-time signal-routing capacity (64x10G ports). And finally, the company unveiled WAN capabilities for MediorNet.

The products introduced at IBC2014 gave attendees a look at Riedel's move into software-based innovation. Riedel launched Tango, the company’s first fully networked and expandable platform supporting AES67 and AVB standards. With its own dedicated intercom application 'My first Riedel', the platform can be turned into an efficient 40x80 matrix intercom system that users can tailor according to their needs. The Riedel RSP-2318 Smartpanel released during the show serves as a powerful multifunctional user interface capable of performing multiple functions across multiple applications. Finally, Riedel's STX-200 is a single-box solution, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, that brings Skype connectivity into the professional broadcast environment.
