‘First Facilities’ appointment at Elstree Light & Power

Robbie Wilson former Head of Operations at Gallowglass and previous owner of his own event staging and barrier production company has joined Elstree Light and Power (ELP) as Special Projects Manager.
This new position has been created specifically to develop ´First Facilities´- a service brand within the ELP group - that specialises in the design, manufacture and operation of custom-built solutions to mobile event problems.
"Robbie has over 30 years experience within events including a successful career as a tour manager in the live concert and production industry," said ELP Managing Director Ronan Willson. "He is the ideal man for the job and I am delighted that he has come on board."
Robbie Wilson said: "We are not intent on becoming another staging/rigging/event management brand but rather, we aim to supply those specialist companies in each field with fully tested and meticulously maintained equipment when they need something unusual or when their own stocks are depleted during busy periods.
Wilson passionately believes that there is a gap in the market for such a versatile approach and explained his business vision: "We can offer a vast range of quality event services to Film and TV as well as to the sports and corporate events market - all from under one roof here in Elstree.
“Our potential is enormous. We can now supply mobile production vehicles, specialist stage vehicles, mobile studio offices, bespoke CAD designed structures, custom-designed trussing and ground support systems. This is all in addition to the full range of superb lighting, rigging and power services traditionally supplied by ELP."
First Facilities has already developed a ‘pack flat’ mobile studio for ITV sports coverage of Formula One, mobile production vehicles for business broadcaster CNBC, merchandise vehicles and car display stand for McLaren sponsors Mobil 1 and broadcast vehicles for coverage of the World Rally Championships.
Wilson said that currently under development were a number of LED screen support structures for major UK events.
He added: “The market response so far has been excellent and we look forward to a very busy year."
