Sherbet create Seat Ibiza campaign
Sherbet Director Dirk Van de Vondel has recently completed a television and print campaign for the new model Seat Ibiza through Bates Barcelona.
'Imagineering', which features 45’, 30’, 20’, 10’, and 10’ teaser spots for television, embodies Seat’s philosophy of combining style and passion with advanced technology.
Van de Vondel unique animation fuses with elements of photographic footage to take the viewer on "a roller coaster journey through an imaginary landscape where dynamic painterly brush strokes transform into design details of the car in the blink of an eye."
Sherbet Producer Jonathan Bairstow said: “The core creative ideas based on the theme of passion and power were developed over two years by Bates and Sherbet. There were times when we all thought the project was a wonderful but rather hopeful shot in the dark. We had to believe that Seat would eventually back such an adventurous and unconventional approach. It was brilliant when they did.”
Production started in July 2001, with Dream Team of Barcelona setting up a location shoot in the mountains in Northern Spain. James Bond car chase cinematographer Ian Sharp directed the driving shots to Dirk’s storyboard specifications. Ian used the Libra stabilizing camera mount for the continuous three hundred and sixty degree hero shot. There was also a studio shoot in Barcelona to explore interior and exterior details of the car.
Selected live action sequences were then digitised and worked on frame by frame at Sherbet by Dirk and a team of specialist animators and digital designers using combinations of Photoshop, After FX, Painter, Combustion and Aura.
