QuVIS announce more QuBit digital cinema players sales

QuVIS have announced the sale of two more QuBit digital cinema servers to Japanese cinema operators, bringing the total number of QuBits used for digital cinemas in Asia to 12.
The first system, purchased by T-JOY, will replace film projection for all digitally mastered motion pictures projected in the T-JOY Park Place Theatre in Ohita, Japan. The second system, installed in Umeda Buruku 7 in Osaka, Japan, was purchased by a consortium of companies including T-JOY and one of Japan’s top three film production companies, Shochiku.
D-Storm, QuVIS’ authorized distributor in Japan, sold and installed the new cinema systems.
Digital cinema or 'd-cinema' refers to the electronic delivery and exhibition of movies in theatrical venues, versus the traditional means of shipping and projecting 35mm film prints. When a cinema incorporates a QuBit server and digital projector it experiences a ROI of about 36 months, which is the cost savings realized over deploying approximately 15 film prints per year to the cinema complex. This transformation from film to digital media enables higher quality images to be projected while offering a significant reduction in the cost of producing and distributing film prints.
Equipment suppliers, such as long time QuVIS partner, D-Storm, Inc., are selling digital equipment to post production facilities, exhibition houses and broadcast companies. T-JOY, a pioneering digital cinema exhibitor and theatre chain owner, is installing equipment in its theatres while its parent company, TOEI is developing digital content in the form of animation and motion pictures.
The final processing of digital motion pictures takes place at post-production facilities. One of the most notable is Imagica, the oldest and largest film lab in Japan, which uses QuBit during the mastering process to prepare content for distribution to theatres.
T-JOY was established in August 2000 by a consortium led by TOEI, a major Japanese film company. T-JOY has also installed a satellite receiver at the Hiroshima location enabling digital transmission and reception of digital motion pictures and other content by satellite to the QuBit servers.
Shochiku operates about 10 multiplex theatres and has more than 160 screens combining its multiplex and single-screen cinemas.
QuVIS Inc., headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, is the leading provider of digital motion imaging technology. Since 1999, QuBit has been used for more than 25 worldwide digital cinema releases, including: 'Toy Story 2' 'Shrek,' and 'Monsters Inc'.
