Broadcast Pix™ has announced its new Flint integrated production system received the 2013 STAR Award, presented by the editorial staff of TV Technology magazine, at last week's NAB Show.
Flint delivers built-in HD streaming and allows operators to include cloud-based content in addition to cameras and file-based graphics and video during live productions, anchored by the company’s production toolset for creating live video with minimal staff.
The STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award honours and showcases outstanding technological innovations available to the broadcast industry.
A panel of judges, which includes TV Technology editors, columnists, and industry experts – reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and overall contributions to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees. Published by NewBay Media, TV Technology is celebrating its 30th year covering the television industry.
"Our panel of judges walk the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies," said Tom Butts, editor-in-chief, TV Technology.
"The products and services that we select for the STAR Award make the cut, demonstrating their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum."
"We are extremely proud that Flint was chosen as a STAR Award winner at NAB," said Steve Ellis, Broadcast Pix CEO.
"This is the professional solution that streaming video producers have been waiting for, with built-in HD streaming, access to cloud-based content, and a complete set of professional production tools in one affordable package."
Its multi-format production switcher supports up to six HD/SD-SDI, HDMI, and analog cameras, plus eight channels of clips and graphics. It includes three keyers for layering, each with PiP and customisable DVE.
An internal Harris Inscriber CG provides six graphic channels, while a built-in, two-channel clip server stores up to 30 hours of clips and animations.
Flint can add video and data files from cloud-based sources such as Skype, Twitter, RSS feeds, and Google Drive.
Flint ingests and scales all sources while maintaining lip sync, and provides up to seven simultaneous outputs. Other features include patented device control for rapid access to any file; Fluent-View, a comprehensive and fully customisable multi-view; Fluent Macros, which easily executes any combination of video, files, and device moves for complex effects with the push of a button; customizable virtual sets; and control of robotic cameras, video servers, audio mixers, recorders and other external studio devices.
