Salford Acoustics Students In Final Year Funding

Students studying Audio Acoustics at the University of Salford have been given the chance to gain funding for their final year by engineering and design consultancy WSP.
The scholarships will be available for two final year students of the BEng (Hons) course.
WSP provides acoustics services, using the latest technologies to help clients with architectural and room acoustics, noise and vibration control of mechanical services and environmental noise and vibration assessment and mitigation.
A number of Salford graduates have been recruited by the company, which also offers work placements to students on undergraduate acoustics programmes.
Udeni Salmon, from the Office of University Advancement, has worked closely with Professor Andy Moorhouse, from the School of Computing, Science & Engineering, to encourage WSP Group to donate the funding.
Andy, who is Professor of Engineering and Acoustics & Vibration, said: "The University of Salford has an outstanding reputation for acoustics and our graduates and postgraduates are in exceptionally high demand for employment in a wide range of sectors including construction, audio, engineering, telecoms and environment.
"This is reflected in the wide range of paid placement opportunities we are able to offer our undergraduates. These scholarships from WSP Group are a welcome reminder of the high value of our graduates to the industry."
Martin Raisborough, Technical Director in WSP’s Acoustics Division, added: "WSP is a multi-disciplinary consultancy working across all aspects of the built and natural environment. Acoustics is an important string to our bow, helping clients with acoustic, noise and vibration issues throughout the concept, design and commissioning of major construction and infrastructure related projects.
"We have been very impressed with our undergraduates from the University of Salford and are inspired to support their student experience through these two scholarships. As a Salford graduate myself, I know that a degree from Salford can transform your employment prospects."
