Avid announce latest version of editing systems

Avid Technology have announced the availability of new versions of its Meridien hardware-based editing systems.
These include Avid Symphony v4.0, Media Composer XL v11.0, Film Composer XL v11.0 and Avid Xpress v5.0.
Matt Allard, Product Marketing Manager for Avid's high-end postproduction products, said: "Customers at NAB were thrilled with these new versions when they had the chance to try them out on the floor, especially the new MetaSync capability.
"Together, these four new versions are the largest Meridien hardware-based release in Avid's history, with more than 100 new enhancements in editing, effects and compositing. If this robust new feature set isn't enough, these new releases also offer better interoperability across the Avid family and the lowest upgrade prices ever for our Meridien hardware."
Avid also announced the availability of Avid Unity MediaNetwork v3.0 and new versions of its productivity tools - MediaManager v3.0, TransferManager v2.0, ProEncode v1.7, and Media Station XL v11.0, designed to leverage the Avid Unity environment for real-time creative collaboration and increased productivity.
"Avid Unity MediaNetwork v3.0 is the third generation of Avid's shared storage system, and with its new 2-Gigabit Fibre Channel architecture, it now delivers the highest sustained bandwidth in the industry at prices that are lower than ever before," said Becki Phelps, Product Marketing Manager for Avid's storage and networking products.
"To complement this powerful sharing environment, we are also offering new versions of our productivity tools, which feature improved performance, tighter security and access controls, and better overall media management capabilities."
