Pinewood Respond To Planning Rejection

Pinewood Studios has spoken out about the government’s decision to reject planning permission, which shelved the company’s hopes for a large expansion.
Pinewood Film studios has been refused permission to develop one of its sites- a project, they claim, would have created about 1000 jobs and 420 affordable homes.
The government shelved the £200m 'Hollywood project plan’ siding with local campaigners who have fiercely opposed the plans for Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, since they were first announced in 2007.
In a statement the company said: "Pinewood Shepperton plc is disappointed by the decision by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to refuse planning permission for Project Pinewood. The Company will now take time to review the decision in detail.
"The Company’s investment in the Project Pinewood land and costs incurred for the planning application are not material to the long-term prospects of the Company. We will continue to implement its master planning consents at Pinewood and Shepperton studios and pursue its international strategy of developing studios overseas."
Pinewood had hoped to get permission to build a 100-acre set on land in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, next to the studios' current site. The plans included building replicas of city centres including Paris, Venice and New York.
