Discreet announce new worldwide business units

Soho-based company Discreet have announced a new worldwide organisation focused around three business units.
The new initiative will enable Discreet to better serve their customers, and is aligned with the company's overall strategy to maintain leadership in all three of their key markets.
The three divisions comprise:
  • Systems - compositing and editing/finishing solutions for high-end post production and broadcast. With the film business expected to reach $30 billion in the next five years and the quantity of digital effects rapidly increasing in SD and HD/D-cinema/D-intermediate formats, the Systems division will continue to be a key business driver – products include inferno, flame, flint, fire, smoke
  • Animation - 3D. Leveraging its position as the leading high-end visual effects solutions provider, Discreet is reinforcing its commitment to the animation industry with a number of product developments including the newly released plasma 3D web design tool – products include 3ds max, reactor, character studio, mental ray, plasma and gmax
  • Desktop video - streaming and compositing for MAC and NT. This division will focus on the highly successful streaming media encoding suite of products and Discreet's award-winning combustion visual effects system for Mac and PC – products include cleaner, cleaner streaming studio, cleaner central, combustion
Discreet's award-winning systems and software is developed for digital media creation, management and delivery-across all disciplines from visual effects and editing to animation, game development, web and interactive.
