Arri Add Avid Support To Alexa Cameras
Arri have shown faith and invested in Avid by adding Avid support to their Alexa cameras allowing for an easier transfer of content.
The upgrade to Alexa cameras will mean that content can be transferred without the need for a lengthy transcode.
As well as recording Arriraw uncompressed 3k images the Alexa now, in parallel, also records native Avid DNxHD as MXF files in-camera.
Neil Fanthom, Arri’s Head of Digital Camera Strategy said:"Arri’s move to add Avid-support, further confirms our commitment to add significant ongoing value to the Alexa camera family, in this case by allowing customers to choose which workflow suits their own capture and post production requirements."
The new upgrade with Avid support (the Avid DNxHD recording function for Alexa) will be available as a paid-for-software upgrade from January 2012.
