TV2 Networks Step Up For Banijay's Celebrity Stand-Up

Respirator, a Banijay Group company, has announced the sale of its brand new entertainment format Celebrity Stand-Up to TV2 Networks in Denmark.
24 stripped episodes of the side-splitting show will air this year. Banijay International is showcasing the property to buyers at MIPTV in Cannes this week.
Celebrity Stand-Up is the show which plays on people's fear of speaking in public by recruiting reluctant celebrities who are willing to take on the challenge to write and perform a stand-up show within five days. Each week, four household names will battle head to head on stage to become the funniest star in the country. Mentored by a well-known stand-up comedian coach, viewers can tune in to follow their journey as they are shown the ropes by an experienced act.
Karoline Spodsberg, Managing Director of Banijay International said: "We congratulate Respirator on the first commission of this stand-out property. It's great that TV2 Networks has recognised its potential for success so quickly and we are already receiving strong international interest. With this totally unique and entertaining comedy format, Banijay is responding to the increased demand for international comedy that travels. Celebrity Stand-Up satisfies viewers' curiosity about the stars they love while offering them a rollercoaster ride of humour, fear and bravery."
Each episode of Celebrity Stand-Up will focus on one of the four competitors, going into their home and unveiling their personal lives to search for material for their act. Fascinatingly, often a celebrity will have to focus on his or her weaknesses to build the most hilarious performance so the viewers may find them exposed like never before.
Following the research, the celebrities will take to the streets to test their material and build the resilience they need to make it through the crazy antics they will need to perform on stage! The celebrities will also have to fulfil the mandatory tasks of writing jokes about their competitors, writing a "one liner" and writing a joke based on a random topic chosen by their coach. On show night, the competitors will be equipped with a heart rate monitor so that viewers can experience the full tension in the lead up to and throughout their performance in front of a live audience. Then it's up to the audience to choose which of the four contestants deserve the title of the funniest celebrity of the week.
