BBC Wales enlists key communications professionals

BBC Wales have made two key appointments covering its marketing and communications activities, recruiting seasoned professionals with wide corporate experience.
Huw Roberts becomes Head of Marketing and Communications, aided by David Cartwright, who has been appointed Head of Press and Publicity. Both will be moving into their new posts within the next two months.
Huw Roberts has wide experience in public affairs and is one of the most experienced practitioners in Wales.
Until recently he was Managing Director of Strategy Wales, one of the country's leading political consultancies, providing corporate counselling for a wide range of public and private sector clients in Wales as well as elsewhere in the UK, including Glas Cymru, Microsoft, Ufi, the Wales Tourist Board, the WDA and Serco Rail.
He said: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of helping BBC Wales to engage with the widest possible audience.
"It is a key time for broadcasters everywhere and it is important we listen to people as well as talking to them. Wales and the world of communications are changing. I'm delighted to be part of it."
David Cartwright, who has been appointed Head of Press and Publicity is a graduate in economics and politics from Warwick University.
For five years in the 1980s he worked in the sports department of BBC Wales before moving into public relations.
One of his first roles in this discipline was with the Football Association of Wales, a task accommodating his love of soccer as a lifetime supporter of Cardiff City.
He is currently employed by British Nuclear Fuels as media relations manager, dealing with 11 nuclear power stations, two of which are in Wales, at Trawsfynydd and Wylfa.
He said: "I am delighted to be rejoining what I consider to be a part of the greatest broadcasting organisation in the world."
BBC Wales Controller, Menna Richards said: "We are being joined by talented people with very considerable experience to meet the many challenges that lie ahead for us and for broadcasting generally.
"I am delighted that Huw and David are joining us as we face a testing and complicated technical, editorial and social process. I look forward to working with them."
