Lake LM 26 Debuts At Scandinavian Festivals

News Image
Lake's new LM 26 stand-alone digital audio loudspeaker processor has been given an early tour of duty by leading Swedish sound company Music & Lights at numerous music festivals throughout Scandinavia as the summer season kicked off, most recently at Denmark's one-day rock festival 'Copenhagen Live 2010' and one of Sweden's biggest gigs, 'Sweden Rock Festival'.
Attracting over 20,000 hardened rock fans, Copenhagen Live - which took place last month on June 2 - was held in the Kastrupstrand Park area of Copenhagen. Top of the bill were Rammstein, Bullet For My Valentine, Skunk Anansie, former G'n'R and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash and Danish hard rockers Volbeat.
Later that same month on 10th and 11th, Music & Lights again deployed a trio of LM 26 processors for the main stage at the Sweden Rock Festival in Solvesborg, where Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith, Gary Moore, Slayer and Danzig were among the headline acts playing in front of the huge 35,000 strong crowd.
This was the first opportunity Music & Lights had to put the brand new LM 26 processor through its paces, incorporating it with their new 'L'acoustics K1' line-array system and providing the highly acclaimed Lake Processing technology via the Windows-based Lake Controller software.
The LM 26 is the successor to the Dolby Lake Processor (DLP) with extensive digital matrix functions including Dante digital networking, which provides seamless compatibility with Lab.gruppen's Dante-enabled PLM Series as well as legacy DLPs. The new processor will accept audio signals via Audrinate's Dante digital audio network at 48 and 96 kHz sampling rates. Automatic input priority switching may be enabled, and the unit can function as both an input matrix mixer and Dante break-in box or break-out box.
While each individual LM 26 device provides two discrete Lake processing modules, multiple devices can be used in combination (linked with I/O cascaded between units via the input and output routers from any of the AES/Analogue or Dante formats), as Music & Lights have done with their rack of three, to provide as many processing modules as a system requires. Modules and functions can either be grouped or combined as Super Modules within the Lake Controller software, offering greater flexibility and simplification of the control processes.
Following successful implementation at both of these festivals, Music & Lights went on to use their newly acquired LM 26 units at several other gigs in and around Gothenburg including West Coast Riot, Metaltown and Pier Pressure, with more planned over the the remainder of the summer.
