Bumper World Cup For Worldwide Broadcasters

One of Europe's premier sports production companies, have struck a host of deals for its World Cup 2010 broadcast facilities based in Cape Town including Al Jazeera, ESPN, France 3, Chile’s Channel 13, Paraguay’s Telefutura as well as Sky News and Sky Sports News.
For Al Jazeera, Input Media has hosted its sport's production team for a series of six live World Cup preview shows at Input Media's World Cup Broadcast Centre in Cape Town. These shows included live inserts from Sau Paulo, Berlin, Paris and Barcelona, linked by ALDEA's fiber network and satellite inserts downlinked on site from Doha, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth. The programmes were transmitted via fibre and satellite to the World Cup IBC and then passed on to Doha for the domestic transmission.
Sky Sports News have also launched its World Cup reports, where they present seven live shows every day during the tournament, from Input Media's second studio at the Broadcast Centre in Cape Town.
Other clients include ESPN with a live studio two-way to the USA, digi-link camera live stand-ups for France 3, Sky Sports News and Sky News, plus multiple playouts and stand-ups for France 3, Channel 13 of Chile and Telefutura of Paraguay.
The unique digi-link stand up service, which uses radio cameras provided by technical partners Presteigne Charter, has already delivered live pictures from multiple locations around the prestigious V&A Waterfront as well as the more distant locations of Signal Hill overlooking the new Cape Town Stadium and the top of Table Mountain giving spectacular views of the city and Table Bay. It is also envisaged that these cameras will be heavily used during the build up to England's game in the city against Algeria.
David Wood, Executive Chairman at Input Media, who is running the South African operation, said: "We were delighted to welcome Al Jazeera and the rest of our clients to our World Cup facility at The V&A Waterfront World Media & Legacy Centre. It is a credit to our team and partners at ALDEA that we have a world class facility bringing in some of the major global broadcasters, such as Sky Sports and now Al Jazeera."
