Digital Rapids Teams With Qumu

A leading provider of tools and solutions for television, film and web content, Digital Rapids, has teamed up with a media and video solutions business, Qumu, to announce that direct support for Digital Rapids' acclaimed encoding and streaming systems has been integrated into the new version 5.3 of the Qumu Video Control Centre.
The Qumu Video Control Centre (VCC) provides webcast producers with centralized management and control for all video applications, content and resources involved in the production lifecycle and delivery of enterprise video.
IT organizations rely upon VCC to automate and streamline the production processes for live webcasts and video-on-demand creation through integration of encoders, streaming servers and content delivery networks, affording scale, reliability and return on their video assets.
Digital Rapids' encoding solutions provide scalable, top-quality encoding for both on-demand and live streaming applications. Advanced video processing technology enables superior visual quality and the most efficient use of bandwidth in the compressed output.
The new integration enables control and management of Digital Rapids encoders directly from within the Video Control Centre's intuitive portal interface.
VCC can now schedule Digital Rapids encoders for live broadcasts, ensuring availability during important events like CEO broadcasts and project management meetings.
Through the VCC, producers can control the operation of the encoder, providing a highly available, scalable solution to ensure utmost uptime of important live events. Qumu’s live broadcast console will monitor the status of the Digital Rapids encoder stream, allowing webcasters and operations staff full knowledge of the performance of the encoded event.
Full failover and redundancy is also supported with the release.
Client side playlists will automatically pull a redundant stream from a backup Digital Rapids encoder should a stream be interrupted for any reason, providing the level of reliability and assurance that is mandatory for webcast professionals producing events like live CEO webcasts to tens of thousands of employees.
"We're pleased to be working with Qumu to combine the powerful benefits of our encoding solutions with the enterprise media lifecycle management capabilities of the Qumu Video Control Center," said Darren Gallipeau, Product Manager at Digital Rapids. "Our new integration with the Video Control Centre lets Qumu customers take advantage of the same industry-leading quality, flexibility and reliability that leading studios, broadcasters and networks worldwide count on in our encoders - all through the Qumu interface."
