Women In Media Outnumbered

Women are half as likely as men to be on British television, a study commissioned by Channel 4 has found.
More than three-quarters of contributors to news programmes were men, a study of 386 hours of TV over three weeks on six main channels found.
Women did occupy half the roles in soaps, reported the study to mark International Women's Day.
Sky News is having all its programmes presented and produced by women for the day.
Researcher Dr Guy Cumberbatch claimed the study is the most comprehensive analysis ever of people appearing on television screens.
"Accusations of sexism and ageism on TV are not new," said BBC media correspondent Torin Douglas.
"But this research gives broadcasters figures to measure themselves against."
However, for the first time in its history, a woman has been named the top movie director at the Oscars in Los Angeles.
On what happened to be International Women's Day, Kathryn Bigelow last night made history when she was named Best Director for The Hurt Locker.
She is the first woman to be crowned in the 82-year history of the Academy Awards.
Bigelow, who is one of only four women to be nominated for the best director prize, even beat her ex-husband, Avatar director James Cameron, to win the award, considered one of the most coveted in Hollywood.
