Manfrotto Launches 'Revolutionary' Remote Control

The sales and marketing operation for the globally recognised Vitec Group has launched its new 521LX LANC camcorder remote control.
The innovative control helps videographers get the most from their camcorders and stay ahead of the competition and as its name suggests, the 521LX uses Sony and Canon's widely implemented LANC protocol to allow interaction and command over LANC-enabled camcorders.
Launched by Manfrotto, the inventive 521LX has been developed to take full advantage of the latest and greatest LANC-controllable functions. Mapping to the controls of the 521LX are also customisable by the user - something truly new and a real boon to camcorder users, allowing them to get the best performance from their equipment with the most intuitively personalised commands.
The new remote control can be updated in the event of new camcorder features becoming LANC-enabled as it features a USB port for connection to your PC 521LX so you can always stay up to date with the latest innovations in LANC control. New firmware releases and upgrades will be published on manfrotto.com for download and straightforward update via USB.
Other key features of the Manfrotto 521LX include:
  • Multifunction thumb joystick - This allows ultra-precise control and is soft to the touch for comfortable use during long shoots or delicate adjustments. The joystick can be customised to control camcorder zoom, focus or iris and can allow two functions to be assigned to it further extending the fine control you have over your camcorder without distracting your attention from your subject
  • Built-in clamp system - The 521LX can be fitted to any video head pan bar without requiring an adapter: a special retainer system adjusts simply and securely to the diameter of the pan bar in use and maintains the positive response of all commands
  • On-board, backlit display – This shows relevant information from the camera and control unit helping you assign functions to each control. Despite the display, power consumption for the 521LX is so low that it can be powered by the camera, which ensures continuity of control functions
