Sony's New PMW-350 Camera For Pro Motion

Pro Motion Hire has become one of the first companies to place an order on the new Sony PMW-350 camera.
The hire company, which stocks Sony's XDCAM EX in addition to its fleet of XDCAM HD422 equipment at its facilities, has always been proud of being an early adopter in tapeless technology
's newest solid-state camera extends Sony's award-winning XDCAM EX range and means Pro Motion Hire will continue offering the very latest advances in broadcast technology.
In an effort to continue providing reliable and up-to-date advice, Pro Motion Hire was interested in learning more about the tapeless camera after it was officially unveiled in Paris on October 20, 2009. This led to Sony's UK Product Manager, Phil Myers, being invited to the company's hire facility in Waterloo to demonstrate the capabilities of the PMW-350.
Myers said: "Pro Motion's knowledge and understanding of the Sony range is first rate, which should be expected seeing as so many production managers, cameramen and DOP's rely on their advice.
"It's great that the company's investing in Sony's latest tapeless technology and that we had the chance to demonstrate the new PMW-350 to the team."
Pro Motion Hire was particularly impressed with the 2/3" image sensor, which allows the use of full broadcast 2/3" lenses directly onto the camera and the DVCAM feature, which means recordings can be stored onto SxS cards.
The new camera will be stocked from early 2010 and will be available, as is all equipment, at both the London and Brighton facilities.
Duncan Martin, Managing Director, Pro Motion Hire, said: "I firmly believe being one of the first hire companies to invest in the Sony PMW-350 means that we'll continue setting the standard in broadcast hire by offering fantastic options to our clients.
"As champions of tapeless technology it was great to get such a thorough introduction into the latest solid state camera - this will help us to continue giving the best advice possible."
