EDITORS KEYS CROWNED EBAY BUSINESS AWARD WINNER

Editors Keys has been announced the winner of the coveted ‘Innovation Award’ at this year’s eBay Business Awards. Mark Brown, owner of Editors Keys, was one of 11 eBay sellers recognised at the national event for their entrepreneurial success.
Award winners were joined by former Dragons Den Star Jenny Campbell and special guest speakers from the Prince's Trust and Wolverhampton City Council at the Ham Yard Hotel in London, each of whom presented awards on the night and celebrated the success of the winners.
Mark Brown launched Editors Keys in 2004 after struggling to justify the cost of an editing keyboard. He developed a product that transforms a normal keyboard into an editing one, at a fraction of the price. Mark listed his first batch of 100 items on eBay, which sold out in just one day, to customers in the UK and overseas. His initial £100 investment has now become a multi-channel business, predicted to turn over £750,000 this year, with customers including the BBC, ITV and rapper Snoop Dogg.
The eBay for Business Awards is designed to recognise and celebrate the most inspiring sellers among eBay UK’s community of 300,000 small and medium-sized businesses. The event follows a nationwide search for the best British businesses trading on the platform, with the shortlisted entries being presented to an expert panel of judges made up of eBay leadership and industry experts, as well as previous award winners.

Rob Hattrell, Vice President of eBay UK, commented: “Small businesses like Editors Keys are at the heart of what we do, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the very best and brightest of those selling on our platform. Their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it’s a privilege to hear each of their unique stories first-hand.
“From family businesses passed down through the generations, to those just beginning their journey, I’m truly proud of what each of this year’s winners has achieved.”
Mark Brown, owner of Editors Keys, said: “When we posted our first listing back in 2004 we had no idea what the results would be, so I’m honoured to receive this award and look back on where it all began. When we couldn’t afford to build a website, eBay was the only way to showcase our products to a global audience. I’m so proud of the business, which has grown from one plastic keyboard sticker design to a full range of editing and recording equipment, used by top youtubers and producers like the BBC and ITV – and it all started with an eBay listing.”
