Transmission TX And Bradley Engineering Capture A Bird's Eye View Of Norfolk For Springwatch Viewers

A specialist camera company based in Shepperton Studios, Transmission TX, and Bradley Engineering, a leading provider of fully integrated, unique, remote camera solutions, have announced their joint involvement with Springwatch.
The popular BBC2 programme, which recently aired over a three-week period, returned to Norfolk to rediscover the changing wildlife at the Pensthorpe Nature Reserve.
TX, as a preferred supplier to the BBC, purchased ten of Bradleys' BE-HD10 Mini Remote HD cameras along with the operational infrastructure to capture footage of species never covered in hi-resolution on the series before. Jon Boyce, Managing Director of TX, commented: "We have a very experienced in-house team that finds solutions for many different projects, utilising and combining different technologies to get the results required.
"We have been investing in David Bradley Engineering for many years and once again using their cameras significantly contributed to the success of a programme."
Specifically designed to be compact, Bradley's mini cameras were stationed close to nesting birds in order to give the viewer a bird's-eye view of their habitat 24/7, whilst remaining invisible to their hosts. Boyce added: "Being able to see the true colours and the detail in the birds' feathers made a huge difference, noticeable not only to the producers but to viewers compared with previous shows."
The HD10 cameras, which can fit in the palm of your hand along with DBS remote cam balls, produce HD (16:9) 1080i images although the requirement for Springwatch was for SD, so this was resulted in superior-quality pictures being transmitted on-air and online.
Boyce explained: "Springwatch is one of the BBC's biggest outside broadcasts. It is viewed by over four million people a night so we had to ensure that the reliability along with quality was paramount for a show which has 36 live TV transmissions and five web streams via satellite 24 hours-per-day for 23 days."
David Bradley, Chief Executive Officer of Bradley Engineering, commented: "Our cameras end up in some amazing places and this is no exception.
"This installation provided by Transmission TX is another excellent example of how a very small camera can deliver superb high-quality images, in often demanding conditions at an affordable price. We have worked with Transmission TX for over fifteen years and are delighted to be involved in this project."
